One of my guests wasn`t so positive when she showed up at Guides Central, since the Kp-index showed only 1, so when I told her that means noting! since we many times get the best Aurora show when it`s low Kp-index, and she and rest of my guests got surprised... of course, I can never guarantee anything, and can just wait and see what the night will bring.
It´s a natural phenomena, so who can control it..? Not a App!!
So, please quit the Aurora forecasts and Kp-index, and be outdoor and just hope for the best..;)
So, after driving for a while, we finally found clear sky and missed evening first show, and then we just had to wait... it was Northern lights all over the sky, but it was faint, with a couple of spikes who died out again.... but, then she begin to move to the south sky; And then it`s important to set in the most important tool a Aurora Chaser can use; Patience!
It was nice a cold outside with 21 minus degrees, but thanks we had no wind, so it was a beautiful cold night outdoor in this trolly landscape... I made a space for the camp fire in the deep snow, and serve my guests hot drink and local baked lefse, and told them that we will wait until 00.30 before we leave, cause of the south sky Aurora band...
Of course, many of the guests was cold, also with good thermo boots and warm suits, so I heated up the bus so they could stay warm, while rest of us just waited outside.
And we got good paid for the cold time outdoor, since the lady got crazy..;)

After five days relaxing home and in Henningsvær while 2 storms took over the environment, I went to the south part of the Lofoten islands, for be the driver and local knowledge guide for an american photographers group... First we got a couple of rainy days, then we got a "nice" storm on Tuesday, with tricky driving conditions with really bad wind, which was close to through the bus out on Haukland beach... and then we finally got two lovely clear days with sunshine, and tonight we could enjoy a nice Aurora show... not much, but enough for making our guests happy.
Today, the day after, the rain and the wind is back again, and it looks like all Northern Scandinavia have the same bad weather, so the time will show what happen next week, when I am back in Tromsø and ready for a new round with GuideGunnar`s Aurora Chases...

A little tricky night with a lot of clouds, strong wind and snow, but I learned my guests how important to have great patience, and we got lucky since we got a huge gap in the clouds several times and my guests got what they came for, a great Aurora show. On the return, we stopped an my home (picture above with Aurora on the south sky, over our sea house), where I in the future will build up Aurora Eye 360 together with my lovely Carol, in a lovely partnership for life and business. The show was forecasted to start just after 10 mins we left the Guides Central, so I was thinking of to let my guests to take the lovely pictures of the Arctic Cathedral, the bridge and the city. But, the activity was too good, so it started in wrong direction, over the cable car mountain on the south sky... So, I decided to leave, and of course, then the next wave started so we misset it while we was moving to the next stop...
But, we got well paid later; First 25 km east of Tromsø and then on a new place along the Balsfjord... with a new great Aurora show of intense Pink rock`n`Roll and coronas.
