November 2nd - Aurora Chase Dinner

Tonight we headed far east for escape the snowstorm on the coast and ended inside Finland, which was the 2nd time in two months this season.

The temperature was 5 plus degrees in Tromsø and lovely 22 minus in Finnish Lapland, which was a cold experience for my guests during this Aurora Chase Dinner...

A tricky night weather wise when all the weather forecast was showing wrong weather, so I got little confused and was not sure what I should do and where I finally should drive. But a big thanks to Anders @Aurora Borealis Observatory who led me in right direction, and a huge thanks to Hege @Norwegian Wild who let us borrow her lovely sea house for the break...

Kp 1 Full Moon Aurora! Just love it..;)

The night before it was quiet so I was hoping she was coming back little at least, as she started that way with just a faint band low on the north sky... but, as we know, she`s a tricky lady and suprised us with a great show with dancing in 3 colors together with full moon...

November 14th

• Aurora show: No activity! A faint stripe on camera only...

Tricky conditions with wrong weather forecast make us guides confused, but still after a lot of driving and waiting we had enough patience, so clear sky was found but the lady wasn`t cooperative tonight, so it got the season 2nd no show...

Full Moon Aurora Beauty!

After a quiet week we got finally a crazy beautiful show which also can happen when we are inside the so called "low sun activity". Tromsø are located under the Aurora oval so it`s no matter if it`s high or low period; Great show we get every season..;)

November 19th

A new tricky weather night, but when most of the guides stayed on the cloudy coast I decided to follow my got feelings and headed into the country side.

We found partly clear sky at four windy locations, but the lady was`nt so much cooperative. After midnight all the sky cleared up from the south as they forecasted, but then it was no more activity...

November 20th

Just a typical Kp 1 Aurora show... very nice.. ;) So, please don`t do your chase after the level of Kp index, since you don`t know what happen out there... the Lady will surprise you!

November 21st

November 23rd

• Aurora show: Green clouds and a short bright one in a hole.

Some nights the weather forecast is wrong and there wasn't any clear sky at the spot we was heading for, but still, all the clouds went green, by high clouds... And then we had couple of holes where she bright up little...

But, the most important on a night like this is when the the guests still are happy and had a lovely night outdoor around the campfire in the forest..;) One of the girls entertained with a lovely chines song... what a moment. Thanks guys, you made my night..;)

November 27th

November 29th

• Aurora show: All over, far south, curtains, curls, spikes, little dancing in two colors and a small corona.

• Wildlife: 2 moose.

After a long drive south, close to 200 km in snowstorm, the clouds splitted up as the forecast said and we got a nice Aurora show in about two hours.

And when the hole dissapear again the activtiy was over, so we went back home to Tromsø... the return was little harder than the way out, with stronger wind and more snow...
