GuideGunnar's Private Aurora Chases is bookable for good friends and family adventures, even babies can join the Private Aurora Chase.

In this premium chase into the Arctic wilderness, your private group will enjoy excellent service and hospitality from one of Norway's most innovative and experienced tour guides.

GuideGunnar's Private Aurora Chase treats you also to a traditional Norwegian snacks around the campfire and presents an on-screen introduction to the fascinating physics and cultural history behind the Northern Lights.

Theatre of Food

What`s this ?

When I did my first Aurora season in autumn 2006, I also created my own `Theatre of Food` in a lavvu (Sami tent) by the fjord on Kvaløya island. And nowadays I have moved it outdoors and serve a full dinner for you out on the Private Aurora Chases, and also in the summer on a beach for the Midnight Sun view.

The idea is that I use basic ingredients and cook the meal from basic over the open fire in front of you, like a theatre.

MENU

• Reindeer stew with onion, mushroom and rice.
• A Meal of fish with vegetables.

• Vegetarian option is available too, on request.
• I am sorry, but a vegan meal is not an available option (yet), but please send me ideas and teach me about what I can make in a wok over open fire. Email me your recipes, please >
   

Private Aurora Chases includes

• Pick-up from Tromsø airport (TOS), cruise ship terminals, city hotels, or your Airbnb address.
• GuideGunnar's guide service
• Snacks served around the campfire: ’Lefse’ is Arctic Norway's traditional and locally made pastry with cream and sweet goat cheese. Served with hot black currant juice.
• Warm boots (EU36 - 48) & Termal suits (XS - XXL).
• Camera tripods
• If we catch a good one, I share GuideGunnar Aurora photographs from your aurora night with you.
• A Google Map directions link showing your Aurora Chase tour route
• Return transport to your accommodations in the city or back to the airport
• GuideGunnar's tours are run in a high-quality, warm and spacious minibus (17 seats). The minibus also features on-screen introduction to the Aurora Borealis en route to the Northern Lights.

Private Midnight Sun Dinner

Time of year: June - July
Beach relax where the sun never sets

While you`re relaxing on the beach, I will make a meal of fish over open fire for you.

• Pickup point: Your hotel, AirBnb or cruise ship.
• Departure time: 22.00 / 10 pm
• Duration: 4 hours
• Incl. transport, guided sightseeing, a meal of fish as a late dinner, while you relax on the beach. Return drive to your accommodation in the city.

Private Fjords & Sami Experience

Follow me out to the fjords area of Kvaløya island, where we will visit a local and authentic Sami family, where you`ll get an unique Sami Experience incl. reindeer feeding in silence away from the crowds ...

After the Sami visit we will contiune the fjords sightseeing to Sommarøy island where we`ll take an better late lunch / early dinner, and on the return to the city it will be a chance to see the Northern lights, if you`re joining when it`s early dark evening, and early activity from the sun ...

Private Fjords & Aurora

This is a combo of an afternoon / Fjords & Sunset Sightseeing and Aurora Chase. A restaurant meal is included.
After your wish, I will show you the amazing Lyngen Alps or the Magic island of Senja.

Private Arctic Summer

Availability: June to September

Join GuideGunnar on a drive along the coast to see the highlights of Kvaløya island, from fjords and mountains to lovely ocean views. You'll explore the beauty of this island during a comfortable ride in GuideGunnar's new minibus. You'll have plenty of opportunities to take pictures or just relax and take in the lovely views and scenery at the many stops throughout our journey.

After the first round of sightseeing, we'll enjoy a fine lunch at Sommarøy Arctic Hotel.

Passports

Please bring your passport (or other ID for EU citizens) for GuideGunnar's Private Aurora Chase, since as weather conditions might cause us to chase the lights across the border into Finland.

Bathrooms

GuideGunnar's Aurora Chases is a wilderness tour with nature's own bathroom facilities. However, there might be bathroom facilities en route during the Aurora Chase. Please don't hesitate to ask.
