March 31st - Private Aurora Chase
Three generations family under the sky of haze and Aurora

  • Guests / Country: 8 guests from UK.
  • Weather Tromsø: Cloudy / rain.
  • Destination / weather: Finnish Lapland +20 km / Finnish border / clear / haze / part clear.
  • Aurora activity: 4/10.
  • Aurora show: Couple of arks low on the north sky, spikes, curls and little movement.
  • Visible for the naked eyes: White and faint green.
  • Tour km: 350.
  • Tour hrs: 9.
  • Wildlife: One fox, one snowy bunny and one moose.

We had two choices tonight; we could drive short to the north part of Ringvassøya island, or head far east towards Finland ... and since the best weather forecast was in Finland, then I am always choosing this.

When we arrived the Finnish border it was 95% clear, and when we arrived tonight`s location 20 km inside the border, we had a lovely clear shky for a while, but suddenly it came in haze from the south which was not forecasted ... so, after short time we lost the lovely clear sky ...

We got a stripe of Aurora when we arrived, but then it went quiet ... and that`s little strange since they in three nights had forecasted an larger solar storm ... which gave good Aurora activity during the day time of March 30th and 31st, but not so much in the evening when the sky is dark ...

Let`s hope this is not the new normal ... then we have a huge problem !

Three times in between the haze and later more clouds we got little action on the sky, so at midnight we returned back towards the city ... but, as I am always telling my guests; The Chase is not over before you`re back in bed ;)

And on this return this was just a very good example of this ...

At the half way back to the border we had to make an quick stop, since the sky was suddenly better and we got a strong stripe of Aurora up from the west sky, so we got some more good pics.

And in the second we crossed the border it came even more, but then the next two pockets to stop was taken of other buses which also was on the return drive, so we missed some of it, because I am never stopping in the middle of the road, but we got probably the best Aurora for tonight there, even some more pics of my guests.

And then we contiuned on the 2,5 hours drive back to the city which we returned at 3 am ... and tonight`s best Aurora show started at 4 am ...but, at this time of the season it`s already too much daylight for see any of it ...

Tonight I had returning guests with me, who joined me in 2015 and 2021; Three generations of this british family ;)

March 30th
Three ladies under the snowy peaks with Aurora on the sky

  • Guests / Country: 6 guests from Germany, Argentina and Honduras.
  • Weather Tromsø: Cloudy.
  • Destination / weather: Signaldalen valley / clear with some incoming clouds.
  • Aurora activity: 4/10.
  • Aurora show: Couple of arks low on the north sky, spikes, curls and little dancing curtains.
  • Visible for the naked eyes: Faint green.
  • Tour km: 255.
  • Tour hrs: 8.
  • Wildlife: One fox, one snowy bunny and Lynx track in the gravel road.

Tonight the weather forecast was really difficult to read ... the cloud layers showed the same at the coast and inland, so I was not really sure which way I should drive ...

But, after being little delayed since I got four guests from a colleague, and it took little time to get them together ... I decided to start tonight`s chase with a Fjord Sightseeing, so we drove 25 km west to Ersfjordbotn ...

And then I was planned to drive home, 40 km north, for making more hot drink since the group had increased from only 2 guests to 6 ... but, then I checked a couple of our private sky cameras at the country side, and they showed suddenly lovely clear sky, so I changed my plan and drove straight south to Nordkjosbotn.

We met beautiful clear already after 45 km south, which the weather forecast didn`t showed ... so, it was a very good example why you can`t trust any weather forecasts here in the Arctic !

After a toilet stop at Circle K we went little towards east, to Signaldalen valley where I could give my guests what I love to give them; Silence ... since we was alone there ... except one rental car who has found "my secret spot" ...

The sky was beautiful clear and Lady Aurora begin her performance in the same second we came out from the bus, but she was shy ... so, the forecasted storm didn`t came this night either ...

Looks like the best show at this day was from 5 am to 5 pm (!) ... let`s hope that`s not the new normal.

March 29th
The silver moose

  • Guests / Country: 5 guests from Germany and USA.

  • Tour hrs: 9,5.
  • Wildlife: One fox, one otter, two snowy bunnies and 17 (!) moose.

HOLY MOOSES !!

Tonight`s NO SHOW Aurora went into a lovely Moose Safari which gave my guests a lovely wildlife bonus after the forecasted solar storm didn`t showed up ...

2+2+4 moose in the Dividalen valley and 1+4+4 moose on the return drive between Holt and Øverbygd.

A lovely evening with beautiful guests on the famous photograph bridge in the valley ;)

March 25th

FJORD SIGHTSEEING & AURORA

On tonight sightseeing tour in the daylight while we was waiting for the darkness we did a stop at Kattfjordeidet mountain pass, before I showed my guests Lauklines Kystferie, where I had my first years in Tromsø. I got headhunted by the owner there in 2003, for building up the activities on Kvaløya island. At that time we was only five activity companies in the city ...

Then we drove to Sommarøy, and since we was early I finally could stay at Gjellvika beach, where I haven`t been for many years, since it`s taken all evenings ...

The Aurora activity was slim, but we got some nice shots from the beach.

March 24th
A guy on the snowy mountain road under the sky of Aurora

  • Guests / Country: 5 guests from South Korea, China and USA.
  • Weather Tromsø: Cloudy.
  • Destination / weather: Rekvikeidet / part clear / haze.
  • Aurora activity: 6/10.

FJORDS SIGHTSEEING & AURORA

By starting at the normal time as through the dark deep winter, at 18.00, it gives us 2-3 hours available for sightseeing along the coast of the islands of Tromsø, but it also nice to have this early starting time when the evening is still bright, if we have to drive far east into Finnish Lapland, so we`re there in time.

So, tonight I showed my guests lovely Ersfjordbotn and dramatic Grøtfjord in daylight, before the darkness was falling down, and we went to the end of the road, where I hoped the sky should clear up too ... since my first plan was to drive to Sommarøy, where the best clear sky was forecasted.

Only an other minibus was joining ous on this lovely mountain plateau, so it was quite quiet there, especially when they left 1,5 hour before us ;)

When we arrived the activity was super low wich also the density was, so I thought it should be a very quiet evening, re; Aurora activity ... so, I prepared my guests by building up the patience for them.

But, while I was preparing the camp fire, one of my guests was screaming ... look there !! And suddenly lady Aurora was showing up on the south sky !!

I didn`t saw that was coming ... probably something I had missed out ... but, it`s little funny; since I just some mins before I had told my guests; "It looks very quiet, but the lady is a tricky one ... and sometimes she showing up with a huge surprise".

And of course, it`s Equinox Aurora time, and you can`t really trust the Aurora forecast ...

Well explained of a guy who knows more than me, and commented it on one of my FB posts;
"By transforming the IMF Bz into By due to the eastward or westward tilt of the Earth and the fact that most CMEs are very vertical structures to start with. The equinox effect transforms horizontal (By) structures into more vertical (Bz). But if the structure is dominantly vertical, the opposite occurs and the equinox effect actually renders most CMEs less effective!"

March 21st - My chase night no. 2,200 ;)
A spike of colorful Aurora over the dark tree tops

  • Guests / Country: 14 guests from Greece, Italy, France, Singapore, Taiwan, Japan, Hong Kong, UK and USA.
  • Weather Tromsø: Part clear / snow.
  • Destination / weather: Finnish Lapland +20 & 65 km / part clear / haze / clear / cloud / snow.
  • Aurora activity: 5/10.
  • Aurora show: All over and far south, but faint, curls, spikes and curtains.
  • Visible for the naked eyes: White.
  • Tour km: 365.
  • Tour hrs: 9.
  • Space show: A couple of fast and bright shooting stars / fireballs, and a strange sky line towards east (UFO?)

Two nights in row with Kp 7, and with a totally different result ... so, as you maybe understand, the Kp index is no matter ...

The solar speed was around 500 km/s, but the density had falled down from last night 30-40 and the Bz minus was only around 2-5, in different of 20-30 the night before ...

I was knocked after being into Finnish Lapland since I had already done three long drives in very bad weather, but here we go for the fourth night, and even further across the border ...

Stopped first after 175 km from Tromsø after been driving in really bad weather; first rain storm and then a tight snowstorm, but evening first show started, and the sky was partly okey with haze, so we got the end of tonight`s best show.

Of course, an other guide bus stopped in the same small parking spot, and they liked to stay at the same spot as us, when I had bring my guests away from the crowdy road with too much car lights ... but, that`s too much people for me, and I can`t give my guests what I am selling; Silence ...

So, I let they take over this beautiful spot, because I had actually an other plans by driving further into Finnish Lapland ;)

But, I don`t understand what they actually are selling, when they leave the city in a 9-seats or a 16 seats minibus, and they choose to stop at a parking spot where it can be up to 2-3 50-seats buses and several minibuses.

Why they like to give theirs guests `in a queue experience` out in the nature, byt standing in a queue for shooting pics of Aurora !!??

This time it was a driver and a guide from Wandering Owl, and they didn`t either asked about permission to stay parked there ...

Normally I am blocking the spots in front and behind my own bus, but since I already had decided to leave after a short stop, I just let them do so ...

When we contiuned to drive, then several rental cars tourist had "falling down" in the ditch, since they didn`t understand how the Finnish snowplows are cleaning the side of the roads, so I have only one thing to tell you; Never drive or park outside the sticks, since they mark where the ditch begin ...

Of course, all spots was already taken all the way into Ittoo, so we drove further, and didn`t stopped before 220 km from the city was done ... and stopped at a huge parking spot where it was only one van parked, but I just let them in peace and let my guests walk down the road towards the icy river road which goes into Njammet Guest house on the swedish side of the border river, where we got some nice shot of Aurora.

It was activity all over the sky after that, but faint ... so, I set camp fire on the river bank ... and after serving my guests hot drinks and snacks, the clouds and snow took over, so we returned by midnight ...

The snowy weather was very local, so after 15 km backdrive the sky was partly clear again, but it was no need to stop since the actvivity was too slow ... and when we came back towards the border it begin to snow heavy ...

Tonight`s next show came 2.30 am, but then it was cloudy all over ...

March 20th
Colorful Aurora spread over the sky above the road and lake

  • Guests / Country: 16 guests from Germany, Italy, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, Philippines, UK and USA.
  • Weather Tromsø: Cloudy / rain.
  • Destination / weather: Finnish Lapland +15 km / clear / some clouds.
  • Aurora activity: 9/10.
  • Aurora show: All over and far far south, curls, spikes, curtains and a serie of a lot of Coronas, and then little dancing just before we left ... Plus a lot of different colors on the pics.
  • Visible for the naked eyes: Green and faint red.
  • Tour km: 345.
  • Tour hrs: 9,5.
  • Wildlife: Two white rabbits (hare) and 2+2 moose.

It was INSANE colorful yes ... and many guides thought it was the best ever, but I have experienced more crazy Aurora nights, since it wasn`t dancing Rock`n`Roll all night ...

I love Equinox Aurora, when is more colorful and more powerful, so welcome to join me in the two periods of this; In September, and from mid-March to begin of April ;)

Solar speed: Up to 600 km/s - Density: 30-40 - Bz minus 20-30 (Kp 7).

It`s not often I have to force my guests back in the bus, but tonight I had to do so ... yeah, I am sorry my dear guests, but I am always thinking about the return drive, so I can bring you safe back to the city ... because tonight I was totally knocked in my head and body ...

I was planned to leave at midnight, but of course; I am addicted and couldn`t leave when the activity was building up just at that moment, so I gave it 30 more mins.

After we missed the show at the first forecasted night with this triple 2-class CME`s, then we got an very extreme show tonight with a 3-class solar storm ... and such a beautiful sky scenery with deep colors of Aurora in Green, Red and Pink on the southern and western sky ...

I was planning to drive further, but the activity was too good so I just had to stop so we got this start.

And we can be glad that the activity was mainly towards the south, west and east, since the north sky was totally overcast ...

After bringing half of the group out in the deep snow outside the fence and towards the lake, where we shot a lot of great pics ... I set camp fire on the tiny parking spot I had choose for tonight main stop, and served my guests.

And then Lady Aurora begin with her 2nd act with a lot of coronas ... the best you can explore of Lady Aurora`s performance, and while this started around 11 pm, "hundreds" of other guides begin to head back home ... pity for them.

The whole sky was filled up with Auroras and we got lovely colorful pics with the cameras, but it wasn`t any bright ... not before midnight, when it went a bright line all across the sky and then it began to dance ... so, it was time to film it with my iPhone, since my camera was packed down ...

March 19th
A faint ark of Aurora among the billions of stars and light pollution clouds

  • Guests / Country: 16 guests from Germany, France, Taiwan, India, Australia, Hong Kong, Philippines and UK.
  • Weather Tromsø: Cloudy / rain.
  • Destination / weather: Skibotndalen valley / Finnish Lapland +20 km / part clear / cloudy / snow / clear / haze.
  • Aurora activity: 0/10.
  • Aurora show: Just a faint colorful (on camera) ark low on the north sky.
  • Visible for the naked eyes: Nothing !
  • Tour km: 365.
  • Tour hrs: 8,5.
  • Wildlife: One fox and two white rabbits (hare).

It was forecasted a good CME with a 2-class solar storm tonight, but it didn`t happened .... so a new chance tonight, and tomorrow, since they have forecasted 3x CME`s this nights ... time will show.

We could do it short and easy tonight, by driving north of the city to my island Ringvassøya, where it was also partly clear sky, but I don`t like to wait out in the rain, so then we again headed far east for having a better time in minus degrees in a snowy landscape.

We got first partly clear sky in the valley before the border, but since the Aurora forecast was nothing the next hours, we contiuned into Finnish Lapland for kill some times ...

20 km inside the border the sky was beautiful clear and there was a faint colorful ark low on the sky, but it was faint, so it was not really visible, but I got a couple of good pics of it.

We stayed at this location until midnight when the haze took over ... still no show of any better activity ...

Important Facts to know about:

"By transforming the IMF Bz into By due to the eastward or westward tilt of the Earth and the fact that most CMEs are very vertical structures to start with. The equinox effect transforms horizontal (By) structures into more vertical (Bz). But if the structure is dominantly vertical, the opposite occurs and the equinox effect actually renders most CMEs less effective!"

March 18th
A couple by the frozen river and landscape under the cloudy sky with a couple of Aurora spikes

  • Guests / Country: 15 guests from Germany, Taiwan, Bolivia, Argentina, Australia and USA.
  • Weather Tromsø: Cloudy / rain.
  • Destination / weather: Skibotndalen valley / Finnish border / Finnish Lapland +30 km / clear / haze / snow / part clear / haze.
  • Aurora activity: 4/10.
  • Aurora show: Several stripes all over the sky, curls, spikes and curtains.
  • Visible for the naked eyes: White.
  • Tour km: 370.
  • Tour hrs: 9.

It was a strange feeling in my body when I welcoming my guests for tonight`s chase, since it hasn`t been many fully booked tours this season ... let´s hope it change for the next one; my 21st Aurora season, 2026/27.

My first plan was to drive far inside Finnish Lapland, but at the half way the sky was suddenly totally clear, so we made a couple of stops, but there was no activity of Lady Aurora ...

So, when the clouds arrived then we contiuned further into Finland, and when we arrived Keinovuopio, the sky was lovely clear towards west and south, and short time after we parked it was some Aurora on the sky.

Colorful on camera, but faint for the naked eyes, but some of my guests thought it was lovely, so then I am happy too ;)

A lot of guide buses arrived, but we could stand in peace at the beginning of the road to Sweden, where we stayed to midnight, before we started on the return, and it got a wet one, since it began to rain very heavy.

And at the half way back the speed limimit went down to 25-40 km/h since it was a military convoy in the front, and then we was following as a long convoy of Aurora buses ...

It´s the end of the 10 days exercise for 25,000 soldier from 14 NATO countries, in Cold Responce, but at Nordkjosbotn, they drove into a camp, so then we could speed up again the last 70 km back to the city.

March 15th - Private Aurora Chase
Colorful Aurora over the canyon and the dark forest

  • Guests / Country: 3 guests from USA.
  • Weather Tromsø: Cloudy.
  • Destination / weather: Dividalen valley / clear.
  • Aurora activity: 6/10.
  • Aurora show: All over and far south, but faint with a couple of lines little brighter, curls, spikes and curtains. Little dancing.
  • Visible for the naked eyes: Green and faint pink.
  • Tour km: 290.
  • Tour hrs: 7,5.
  • Wildlife: Two white rabbits (hare).

We could do it short and easy tonight too, but the sky shouldn`t be clear on the coast before later, and that`s little gambling if it`s coming an early show, so we went into the country side where we arrived the valley at 9 pm.

First plan was to drive to Signaldalen valley only 90 km from the city, but the road there was closed cause a military truck had been out for an accident ... it has been a lot of military activity the last weeks into the country side, cause of `Cold Response` - an NATO exercise with 25,000 soldiers from 14 countries,

It was overcast all the way to Dividalen valley, but there the sky was lovely clear with 100%, and we was out there in silence, since we was alone and had the whole valley for our self, so we got the best spot; At a bridge over the canyon with surroundings pine trees and a beautiful mountain in the horizon ... Just love this location ;)

It was Aurora all over the sky, but it was faint, except some burst with little brighter, and my guests said they saw both green and pink with theirs naked eyes, while I saw only white ...

Had a lovely family from Texas with me which was quite fun and gave me a very good company.

It was no wind and only 2 minus degrees so it went to be a lovely night outdoors.

We returned at 11 pm, since my guests on a private chase can decide the return time by theirs self.

There`s still some dates open for a Private Chase, with a outdoor dinner, if you like; March 28th, and all dates in April from 3rd to the end at April 16th.

March 14th
An Aurora circle over the bridge and the fjord

  • Destination / weather: Sommarøy / part clear / clear.
  • Aurora activity: 8/10.
  • Aurora show: All over and far south, curls, spikes and curtains. A couple of small Corona and little dancing.
  • Visible for the naked eyes: Bright green little pink. Three colors on camera.
  • Tour km: 110.
  • Tour hrs: 6,5.

It was easy tonight, but the weather forecats had to be right if it should be an success ... since it was quite cloudy when we left the city ...

And as the forecast said, it cleared up to the perfect and we got season first Aurora on blue sky in combo with the sunset colors ...

It wasn`t intense, but massive, and on the way back we had to make a new stop since the third stripe on the south sky exploted ...

March 13th
Couple of Aurora stripes on the haxy sky over the fjord and village

  • Guests / Country: 9 guests from Germany, Brasil, Australia and China.
  • Weather Tromsø: Part clear.
  • Destination / weather: Dåfjord / Cloudy / haze.
  • Aurora activity: 4/10.
  • Aurora show: Couple of stripes across the sky, spikes and curls and little dancing.
  • Visible for the naked eyes: White through the haze.
  • Tour km: 145.
  • Tour hrs: 5,5.

HAZE & AURORA

It was only one way to drive tonight, as far north as possible for escape away from the fast incoming clouds from the south, and they came little too fast tonight ...

It was lovely clear sky at my home at 5 pm 40 km north of the city, when I drove into the city for pickup my guests, but when we arrived the NW coast 70 km north it was only a few gaps left ... but, we was lucky, since it was activity on the sky when we arrived tonight`s location; on a new beach I also used last week ...

Don`t think all my guests saw what we got ... even little dancing on the sky ... but, at least the pictures went out okey.

It was a lovely time on the beach where I set camp fire on the rocks with silence sea and very warm temperature, but at 9.30 pm the game was over when the sky got totally overcast ... so, we left at 10 pm ...

When the first guests should leave the bus at 11.15 pm at Kvaløya island, I saw a small glimpse of Aurora in a cloud hole, and when I checked the Real Time activity, tonight`s great and forecasted Aurora show was started, so it`s really pity that the whole region got overcasted ...

But, it´s always a gamble, so it`s smart to be out more than one night for increase your chances for a good one ;)

March 12th
Several people by the fjord under the sky of the Northern Lights

  • Guests / Country: 6 guests from Austria, Australia and USA.
  • Weather Tromsø: Clear.
  • Destination / weather: GG`s beach / Dåfjord / clear / incoming clouds.
  • Aurora activity: 6/10.
  • Aurora show: All over and little towards south, curls, spikes and little dancing curtains.
  • Visible for the naked eyes: White only.
  • Tour km: 140.
  • Tour hrs: 6,5.
  • Wildlife: 8-10 reindeers.

Of course and very typically ... 30 mins after dropping off my guests, Lady Aurora waked up with a lovely dance and Corona over the city centre ... (please check the video on my Insta & FB).

So, the weather forecast with incoming clouds from the south wasn`t so bad as they first forecasted ... which was also the reason why we stayed on the coast, and headed north.

Little pity that I didn`t drove to the first planned location in Mikkelvik, 20 km further away from the city, since then we maybe and probably had got the last lovely show before we had returned to the city ... but, who knows that ...

We headed to my beach, 40 km north of the city first, where we got a very tiny spikes of Aurora, but the sky was still too bright so we contiuned to the NW part on my island, Ringvassøya, and instead of driviing further west, I wanted to check how crowdy Dåfjord was, and got little surprised that my fav location was empty, so I stopped there of course.

But, before we arrived we had to make a 2nd stop along the fjord, since the activity began very good ... much more than I thought it should come, since the density was very low ...

The reason why no one had taken this lovely location was maybe cause it was very icy ... but, that works too if you take care, but I was very close to make a couple of serious falls on the ice ...

I set camp fire and we enjoyed a very good show in a couple of hours, before it went silence just after 10 pm, so we left one hour later ...

I saw on our very good Aurora forecast something bigger was building up, and hoped we got it before we arrived the city 30 mins after midnight, but it didn`t came before at 1 am, when I came out from the gas station, and I had my iphone ready so I could film it, over the city ...

March 9th
A woman on a snowhill under the sky of the Northern Lights

  • Guests / Country: 5 guests from Indonesia, China and USA.
  • Weather Tromsø: Cloudy / rain.
  • Destination / weather: Skibotndalen valley / the Swedish- Finnish border river ice / Kilpis Custom / Part clear / haze / snow / clear.
  • Aurora activity: 7/10.
  • Aurora show: All over and far south, curls, spikes and little dancing curtains.
  • Visible for the naked eyes: Green and little pink.
  • Tour km: 370.
  • Tour hrs: 8,5.
  • Wildlife: One white rabbit (hare) and one reindeer.

An new tricky weather night, where I partly trusted the weather forecast ... and the first part was right ...

On the way out we got little clear sky with haze in the valley up to the Finnish border, with 10-15 stars and a couple of stripes of Aurora, but it was too faint, so we contiuned into Finnish Lapland, where I got reports of better sky ...

We arrived the Swedish- Finnish border when the sky was partly clear with several stripes of across, but it was faint ... but, we went out in the darkness on the frozen river ice and shot some pics from the Swedish side of the border ...

But, it didn`t last long, so I did a quick camp fire and served my guests hot drinks and snacks ... and then we left in search of some better sky ... and on our way towards the border we got reports that the coast had best clear sky and good Aurora ...

We was too far away for an return to the coast, so I was thinking about the 2nd best location; to middle part of the Lyngen Alps, where a couple of the sky cameras showed partly clear sky ... but, we didn`t came so far before we had to stop ...

Just before the border, at the custom station, the sky was perfect clear with good Auroras, so I called my colleague; Knut in Tromsø Friluftsenter, which was just behind me, so we both stopped at a good parking with the only light pollution from the station ... but that`s no matter, since this was towards the north, and the activity was towards west, south and later to east.

We got our cool Aurora pics, also of my guests which climbed a snowhill ... and I got very happy to got this, since the long drive we was planned should be a hazzle ...

Happy we went back to the city with a late return, as one of the last Aurora Chasers ;)

March 6th - Private Aurora Chase
Aurora Corona over the village by the fjord

  • Guests / Country: 4 guests from Germany.
  • Weather Tromsø: Part clear.
  • Destination / weather: Dåfjord / part clear / cloudy / clear.
  • Aurora activity: 8/10.
  • Aurora show: All over and far south, curls, spikes and curtains. And one moment of great coronas, but no dancing.
  • Visible for the naked eyes: Green.
  • Tour km: 150.
  • Tour hrs: 6.

Tonight I was first thinking about a long drive into Finnish Lapland, but cause of high risk of avalanches which could close so of the main roads, we had to stay on the coast for being more safe ...

So, we headed NW on my island, Ringvassøya ... an option was to stay at my own beach, 40 km north of the city, but the sky wasn`t clear when we stopped there, so with contact with my colleague Dan, in ArcticX which was standing close to my house, I decided to drive out on the coast on the north west side of the island, where out private sky cams showed good clear sky ...

When we arrived the best locations was already taken, so we drove further, but there the wind was too strong, so we backtrack little and I found me a new beach where I never have been standing before ... made a new parking at the side of the road, and bring my guests down on the beach, but the path down had be made carefully, cause all the rain had made the snow very poor and I sunk down in some really deep holes 3-4 times, but with wet snow then it`s easy to make the snow path safe.

It was a lovely location, but the wind gust was really strong, but cause the warm wind it wasn`t too bad ... or nice and warm for me, but my guests think it still was quite chilly ...

After reports from my colleagues, that the sky wasn`t better at my home I decided to stay, so I set camp fire, and then we stayed there until 10.30 pm.

My guests was happy for what they have seen, but I warned them about that we probably had to stop on the return, since Lady Aurora went on the south sky, but when we left it got totally overcast at our location, so fingers crossed that the sky was cleared up again on the return.

We didn`t had to drive too far, since after 5 km the sky was better, and. the good activity on the south sky was already started ... but, with too many buses who has taken all the spots we missed the beginning ...

Finally I found a small spot to stop, and since it was no traffic on the road except all the buses who already had stopped, we also was standing in middle of the road, and my guests got a nice corona view on the sky.

We could stay longer since it was coming more of activity, and later it was also dancing little, but then between the clouds, so I decided to return to the city as one of the first buses ...

My guests was more than happy with a lovely corona show and a good 8/10 in my Aurora Blog.

March 4th
A faint stripe of Aurora between clouds over the lit up trees

  • Guests / Country: 5 guests from Australia and USA.
  • Weather Tromsø: Cloudy and rain.
  • Destination / weather: Skibotndalen valley / gaps in the clouds.
  • Aurora activity: 3/10.
  • Aurora show: Couple of stripes across the sky, curls and spikes.
  • Visible for the naked eyes: Faint white.
  • Tour km: 345.
  • Tour hrs: 8.
  • Wildlife: Two foxes, three white rabbits (hare) and three moose.

Tonight we drove the wrong way !

The weather forecast showed clear sky later in the evening, both in Finland and at Sommarøy west of the city, but since I don´t like to stay outdoor in the rain and sleet for waiting for the clear sky in several hours, I decided to drive east and headed for Finnish Lapland, where the temperatures was minus degrees and with snow in the terrain, which is nicer ...

We had to stop down in the valley before the border, since there was a huge gap in the clouds and Aurora on the sky ... and when we contiuned and just before we arrived the border we got reports about too cloudy in Finnish Lapland ... and of course, clear on the coast with good Aurora ...

So, among couple of colleagues we decided to do a back drive ... but, while the 9-seaters without driving- and resting rules drove straight back, I had to take a 30 mins break ... but, it was a good planned stop, since we got a huge clear gap and got to see some good Auroras ...

At the same moment we got a road warning; The main road E6 got closed cause a rock slide, so then we couldn`t continue after the break, so I set camp fire and served my guests some hot drinks and snacks, and we stayed there in 1,5 hour before we contiuned and the road was cleared for the rocks ...

The sky was still clear on the coast, so I decided to do a longer return back to the city so we got closer to the clear area ... of course, it was too far to drive the whole way to Sommarøy, but we could reach a point about 20 km away ...

But, at 00.30 am the sky got overcast there too, so we could just return back ... but, this country side road was quite icy so the drive went slow ... and along the route we got some more clear sky, but no Aurora visible, and little later we met three moose along the road, which also was a highlight for my guests ;)

March 2nd
Aurora curl in the haze over the sea

  • Guests / Country: 6 guests from Germany.
  • Weather Tromsø: Clear.
  • Destination / weather: Skogsfjord / clear / incoming haze.
  • Aurora activity: 4/10.
  • Aurora show: Several stripes across, spikes, curls and little dancing curtains. Faint cause incoming haze.
  • Visible for the naked eyes: White, little green and pink.
  • Tour km: 165.
  • Tour hrs: 7.
  • Wildlife: One mouse, one wiezel and two moose.
  • Space show: One droppinng fireball while we was driving.

With incoming haze from the south it was only one thing to do; head as far north we could come ... so, I decided to drive to the same location we was at February 26th, by the fjord in Skogsfjord, where I already had made a small parking spot ...

It was more buses this way tonight, so I got afraid that someone had already had taken this lovely location ... but, we was lucky ... it was available ;)

While I made the parking spot better, my guests was relaxed on the beach ... where I had to learn them this game rule no. 1; Patience, since I didn`t thought we should got to see so much this night, since the solar speed was very low, which also the Bz minus was ...

But, Lady Aurora is a tricky Lady and after a good long wait around the camp fire, where I serve my guests some local snacks and hot drinks ... and after taken several pics of the coastal environment for more content in all my pics, then she suddenly waked up from NE and gave us a good show ...

Even when the haze had arrived and covered most of the sky, The Lady never gave up and gave us even more to be happy for ... but, just before midnight the cloudy sky won ... so, then we returned to the city, but just after a few km drive we had to stop, since two moose was relaxed in the snow a few meters from the road ...
